The Sutton Pie Safe was a good story that taught about moral values. In the story the dad had a pie safe and some rich woman came by wanting to buy it but he told her no. He said that the safe wasn't for sale. The safe obviously had a lot of sentimental value from him because his dad gave it to him as a wedding gift. He wants to seem like he has integrity and won't take other peoples money or make it seem like he is poor at all. He is very straightforward in the way he lets the woman down. Later on in the story he cuts open a snake to make his son a belt and his son wanted it but was too disgusted to reply. His father ruined the belt and told him that next time he should make up his mind before he asks him to kill something. His father was trying to teach him a lesson and that he should be strong no madder what.
